About me
I am a speech engineer at Verbio Technologies S.L. since April 2017. I am contributing to the R+D team working in several Spanish and European projects on speech and natural language processing from a machine learning and data science perspective. Previously, I was a research engineer at Telefónica I+D in Barcelona working on speech analytics and predicting human behaviour.
On January 2016 I defended my Ph.D. in the Music Technology Group of the Department of Information and Communication Technologies at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) under the supervision of Dr. Jordi Bonada and Dr. Xavier Serra. More concretely, my research was carried out within the Audio Signal Processing team, where I worked on singing voice synthesis and expression modeling both from a unit selection and statistical perspectives. Other fields I have worked on are voice conversion and language detection.
I was born in Barcelona, Spain (1980). After obtaining the degree in Telecommunications at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in 2004 I have been working on speech technologies both at the university (UPC Center for Language and Speech Technologies and Applications, 2004-2006 and 2008-2009) and at the private sector (Verbio, 2006-2008). In 2010 I obtained the MSc in Sound and Music Computing from the UPF. I made a 5 months research stay with the Vocaloid team at the YAMAHA Corporate Research and Development Center in Hamamatsu, Japan (September 2010 - February 2011).
I am combining my day to day work with teaching a Speech Processing within the degree in Audiovisual Systems Engineering at Univerisitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) in Barcelona.
